The Business Innovation Exchange funded development work is progressing very well at Edinburgh’s Napier University. Lothian Renewables succeeded in securing funding to develop a device which will divert excess electricity produced from a PV system into a resistive load such as an immersion heating element or storage radiator. There are a number of “switch” like devices available on the market however the product being developed will fully modulate the excess PV power to maximise system efficiency and allowthe householder to gain maximum  benifit from their PV system. The prototype device will commence field trials in January 2013.
