PV Panels and strong Wind

IMG_5273 (1)When surveying for PV installations we are often told by the customer that they are exposed to strong winds and will the panels cope with this?

As part of the design process the wind loading of the panels is calculated and accounted for at different geographical and height locations.

Together with the above and the use of MCS compliant mounting systems we have had no issues with any of our installations over the past 5 years.

Shown below is an installation on the west coast of the isle of Lewis, recent wind speed recorded in Stornoway reached 113MPH – apparently Stornoway is quite sheltered compared to the west coast where the panels are located!
