None – in this case; he didnt have any ladders and Lothian Renewables helped out!
Here’s the story –
At a recent haircut, got chatting to the hairdresser about the savings that can be made by replacing traditional filament down-light with LED equivalents in this case replacing 50w GU10 bulbs with 4W equivalents with an annual savings on electric costs of £177, here’s the maths –
Costs for electricity 12.06p Cost of LED bulbs = £7 Usage of lighting 7hr per day, 240 days per year
46w (saving per bulb) x 19 bulbsx7hrsx12.06p = 73.8p per day
73.8p x 240 = £177per year
The payback period will be 9.5 months and the LED bulbs are rated at over 20yrs of usage at current levels of use. The savings over the years will of course be more than £177 as electricity prices continue to rise and payback period will drop with the price of the LED lights
